North Shore Marina at Pueblo Reservoir in Colorado finalised its breakwater design for phase one of its redevelopment plan. The O’Neil Group is working in collaboration with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Bureau of Reclamation on infrastructure projects aimed at improving boating conditions and protecting marina infrastructure.

Located around six miles west of Pueblo, the marina operates under state and federal management and currently provides more than 500 slips, along with boat rentals, fuel access and visitor services.

The O’Neil Group said the breakwater system will be the first construction element of the redevelopment plan and will support later dock and marina upgrades.

Dan Allen, marina director for North Shore Marina on behalf of the O’Neil Group, said: “The breakwater design is foundational to everything that follows. It will provide essential protection for docks and vessels, improve usability during variable lake conditions and set the stage for a world-class marina that serves boaters, anglers and families for decades to come.”

Allen said the installation of the northern and eastern wave breaks is scheduled for early June 2026, subject to final scheduling arrangements. He added that dock layouts and the marina store remain under review by the Bureau of Reclamation, with dock construction expected to begin after the boating season ends.

The redevelopment follows a 2025 agreement extension between the O’Neil Group and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, which secured operations at the marina through 2045 and enabled long-term planning for the replacement of existing facilities.

The redevelopment plans are expected to include around 715 slips capable of accommodating vessels up to 65ft (20 metres), with restaurant facilities, laundry services, upgraded fuel capacity and additional pump-out stations.
