The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) is finalising an updated edition of its Code of Practice for marina design, construction and operation. The updated guide, developed in collaboration with international consultancy Marina Projects Ltd, will be formally launched in October during the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference in Venice, Italy.

The Code of Practice is regarded as a reference point within the marina sector, offering design and operational guidance to support marina operators worldwide. Progress on the new document was presented at TYHA Marina Conference in May 2025, where members responded positively and offered feedback that has since shaped the ongoing revisions. Topic-specific working groups also contributed to the development process.
Jon White, General Manager of TYHA, said: “We are incredibly proud of the progress made in updating TYHA’s Code of Practice, an industry benchmark that continues to evolve with the needs of the spectrum of modern marinas. The collaboration with Marina Projects and the input from our members and working groups have been invaluable. This collective effort ensures the new 8th edition will be both practical and aspirational, setting a global standard for marina excellence.”
The new edition will also include a suite of bespoke graphics to make the guidance clearer and more accessible. The graphics are intended to help operators and designers better visualise practical applications across marina environments.
Mike Ward, Managing Director at Marina Projects Ltd, commented: “We strongly support the comprehensive update of TYHA’s Code of Practice and are pleased to be collaborating with Jon and the wider TYHA membership on this initiative. The industry is evolving rapidly, with shifting customer expectations and emerging trends. It’s therefore crucial that TYHA’s industry-led design and operational guidance not only keeps pace with these changes but also helps shape and elevate standards across all areas of marina design and operation for years to come.”
