TopSide Marinas, a family-owned operator of marinas in the United States, has acquired Pikes Bay Marina in Bayfield, Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Superior. Established in 2001, the marina serves as a local boating hub within the Apostle Islands and has direct access to the lake and nearby waterways.

Pikes Bay Marina has more than 200 wet slips ranging from 30-60ft (nine to 18 metres), with side ties up to 90ft (27 metres). Facilities include heated indoor and outdoor storage, a marine service centre, a ship store, a fuel dock, a clubhouse and floating docks.

Thomas Joy, Director of Investments at TopSide Marinas said: “Pikes Bay Marina is a perfect fit for TopSide Marinas. It embodies the spirit of exploration and community that defines Lake Superior boating, and we’re thrilled to welcome it into our growing family.”

Regional Vice President of Operations Ryan Skiles said: “Acquiring Pikes Bay Marina is a natural progression for TopSide Marinas. Nestled in the Apostle Islands archipelago, Lake Superior is one of the most unique boating hotspots in the world and a gateway to wilderness, adventure and relaxation. We look forward to serving the community of boaters who call Pikes Bay their home port.”

TopSide Marinas plans to expand the facility’s operational capacity by supporting additional original equipment manufacturers, hiring more technicians and upgrading equipment to accommodate larger vessels. The marina will also provide winter services for snowmobiles and tractors.

Kevin DeCook, owner of Pikes Bay Marina, stated: “We’ve always believed that Pikes Bay Marina is more than a place to dock a boat, it’s a community on the water. TopSide Marinas understands that philosophy. Their focus on service and stewardship makes them the right team to guide the marina’s next chapter.”

TopSide Marinas also manages April Plaza Marina, Beavers Bend Marina, Cape Fair Marina, Hideaway Marina, Galveston Yacht Marina, Larsen Marine, North Point Marina, Rock Creek Marina, Bay Marine of Sturgeon Bay and Bay Marine of Chicago.
