Tanja Marina Bay in Tangier, Morocco, is approaching completion as part of the redevelopment of the Tangier City Port area, with delivery expected in summer 2026. The project sits within a long-term plan to reshape the former commercial shipping waterfront into a mixed-use urban district with residential, commercial and tourism functions.

Presented as the country’s first urban marina, Tanja Marina Bay will include around 1,400 berths across two basins within the former port layout. The infrastructure includes around three kilometres of pontoons, about 350 finger pontoons and 24 gangways, with berthing for vessels up to 90 metres in length.
Metalu supplied aluminium marina equipment for the pontoon system, including floating structures, edge profiles, fender systems and related components, with fabrication and product ranges adapted to pontoons up to four metres wide.
DUMEZ Maroc is responsible for installation activity and utility systems across the site, while Rolec has supplied Quantum power pedestals to provide shore-side services for vessels.

The redevelopment began as Tangier’s port operations were reorganised. From 2008, commercial shipping was gradually withdrawn from the city centre, and the Port de Tanger Ville was closed to commercial traffic on 15 December 2010. After this, former port areas were reassigned for marina basins, fishing relocation and waterfront redevelopment linked to the city.
The Development Company for the Reconversion of Tangier City Port Area (SAPT) was created in March 2010 to guide the transformation of the waterfront under an urban planning strategy.
In 2012, SAPT joined with the Moroccan National Ports Agency to form the Tangier City Port Management Company, responsible for developing and managing infrastructure for cruising, yachting and ferry operations under a concession agreement.
Marina works progressed in phases, starting with pontoon installation in 2016, followed by finger pontoons in 2019 and another phase beginning in 2024.
