Marina Port de Mallorca held its annual seabed clean-up, during which 1,140kg of waste were removed from the marina’s waters. The dive team from STP Shipyard Palma recovered items including supermarket trolleys, tyres and other debris discarded over the season.

“These clean-ups are a vital part of our duty as a marina. They allow us to keep the seabed in the best possible conditions while also raising awareness about the importance of taking care of the sea around us and the marina in particular,” said José María Marroig, Harbourmaster of Marina Port de Mallorca.
The clean-up is part of the marina’s Environmental and Continuous Improvement Plan. Marina Port de Mallorca holds certifications such as ISO 14001, EMAS, the Blue Flag, and the Spanish Carbon Footprint Certificate, which reflect its compliance with environmental standards.

Throughout the year, the marina is involved in other environmental initiatives. These include research on invasive species in port environments, educational programmes with Santa Magdalena Sofía School and Palma Aquarium and hosting the Sea Plastics scientific expedition.
Marina Port de Mallorca accommodates 200 berths for vessels from 12 to 50 metres in length, distributed across four pontoons and an outer jetty within a 2.78-hectare berthing area. Opened in 2001 and refurbished in 2017, the marina offers services and facilities for visiting vessels, including water and power points, dock staff assistance, fuel supply, toilets and showers, selective waste collection and Wi-Fi access.
