Plans to expand Hayden Lake Marina in northern Idaho were withdrawn on 27 March 2026, following public concern and a decision by local officials to hold back support until community input is gathered.

According to a report by Jack Dewitt of Coeur d'Alene Press, the proposal from Southern Marina’s Hayden Lake, LLC was pulled soon after the Hayden City Council voted unanimously not to support the project.
With the application withdrawn, a public hearing scheduled for 15 April 2026 was cancelled.
The application form stated that the project would update and expand the marina to accommodate larger vessels and meet current standards. As the only public marina on Hayden Lake, it provides moorage, fuel, dining and other services.
Plans include replacing and extending dock structures, improving electrical systems, adding energy-efficient lighting and relocating the fuel station. The updated layout would have covered about 31,063sqft (2886 sqm) and added 32 new slips.
In a written notice, general manager Lindsey Olmstead said: “At this time, we believe it’s important to pause the process so we can better understand the needs, concerns and priorities of the Hayden Lake community. Our goal is to be thoughtful and thorough in both the design and the overall approach. With that in mind, we may revisit and refine this proposal in the future.”
