The Municipality of Gallipoli in southern Italy is advancing plans for a €70 million marina at Giudecca, a coastal area of the city. The proposed development would accommodate more than 400 berths, according to local publication LeccePrima.

The marina is planned for the Scirocco side of Giudecca and is intended to create a new recreational boating hub, including facilities for larger vessels. The estimated investment also includes €1.5 million earmarked for a new Harbour Master's Office.

To facilitate the development, the municipal executive, led by mayor Flavio Fasano, approved a memorandum of understanding with the Port System Authority of the Ionian Sea, based in Taranto, through Resolution No. 165 on 13 October 2026. The agreement concerns the inclusion of Gallipoli's port within the authority's jurisdiction.

The memorandum was also listed for consideration by the city council on 5 November. According to LeccePrima, its proposed terms would grant the mayor of Gallipoli a seat on the Port System Authority's Management Committee, with full voting rights, as well as special steering powers over the strategic planning, construction and future management of the marina.

The €70 million investment is being sought from Italy's Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, with the funding request tied to the municipality's plans to build the new tourist marina. However, its disbursement remains conditional on Gallipoli's inclusion within a Port System Authority, as reported by LeccePrima.

The proposed project is separate from the €9.2 million allocated through the 2021–2027 Development and Cohesion Fund for improvements and safety works at Gallipoli's existing port facilities. Regione Puglia confirmed that these works cover the commercial port, San Giorgio and Canneto, including upgrades to quays, mooring facilities and port services.
