With decades of experience in the marina sector, Jon Eads and Mick Bettesworth have launched Eads & Bettesworth Marina Consultants Ltd, an independent consultancy serving owners, operators, investors and developers across the UK and international markets.
A former president of British Marine, Eads has worked across marina operations, commercial management, business planning and redevelopment, including senior roles at MDL Marinas, Salterns Marina and Premier Marinas. His wider industry work includes serving as a director of National Boat Shows, helping establish The Green Blue environmental initiative and holding non-executive and advisory roles across the leisure marine sector.
Bettesworth combines a chartered surveying background with more than three decades of marina operations and waterside development experience. His career includes 25 years at MDL Marinas, where he became chief commercial officer, and 13 years running his own consultancy. He has also served on the boards of the International Marina Institute and the Association of Marina Industries and was founding chairman of the Global Marina Institute.
Eads said: “Mick and I have spent our careers looking at marinas from different but complementary perspectives. We both believe there is an opportunity for consultancy that combines genuine operational experience with a strong commercial focus. Our aim is straightforward: to help clients make better decisions, improve performance and create value from their marina assets.”
Bettesworth added: “The marina business has become considerably more sophisticated. Owners and investors increasingly want to understand how their marinas can perform better commercially and what that means for asset value. Jon and I have worked together for much of our careers. Bringing that experience together again felt like a very natural next step.”
