The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the operation of the Bantam Lake State Boat Launch and Marina in Litchfield County, seeking an operator to manage the public boating facility under a proposed five-year agreement.

Under the concession, the operator would be responsible for managing the 60-slip marina, boating and fishing access, boat launching and retrieval, slip rentals and parking for vehicles and trailers.

The role also covers staffing, maintenance of facilities, cleaning, equipment provision, waste removal and keeping operational records for the site.

The agreement may be extended for up to three additional one-year terms if both parties agree and with approval from the commissioner.

Proposals must be submitted by 18 June 2026. A site visit and briefing session are scheduled for 29 May 2026 to address questions from interested parties.

The RFP is part of the Parks Partnerships programme, which includes different approaches to operating services and facilities across Connecticut state parks, including recreational access, visitor services at public sites and tourism development.

DEEP commissioner Katie Dykes said: “Bantam Lake is Connecticut’s largest natural lake and is widely known for its boating, fishing and year-round recreation. Through this RFP, DEEP aims to continue the existing marina and boat launch services that provide safe and convenient access to Bantam Lake, while furthering its commitment to provide enhanced outdoor recreational opportunities in our state parks and forests.”
