Aganlar Shipyard & Marina has begun a new chapter in 2025 with the appointment of seasoned industry professional Can Polat as Marina Manager. Aganlar’s move to bring Polat and his expertise onboard marks a move to reinforce its position as a destination for superyachts and maritime services in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Aganlar Shipyard was founded in 1961 and is renowned for its yacht services, including refit, technical maintenance and year-round berthing. The marina spans 47,000 square-metres and accommodates up to 180 yachts, 30 at sea and 150 on land, with depths ranging from six to seven metres.

The shipyard is equipped with 450-tonne, 100-tonne, and 40-tonne travel lifts, two hoisting pools, four mega-size repair hangars and a range of technical and logistical services, including diver support, scaffolding, tank cleaning, forklift use and a fully operational design office. Clients benefit from 24/7 electricity, security and CCTV coverage. With over 60 years of experience and a team that consistently delivers solutions, Aganlar continues to support superyachts up to 70-metres throughout both summer and winter seasons.

Polat's arrival brings new energy to the marina's operations. His journey in the maritime world began with sailing at Göztepe Sailing Club and evolved into a diverse career across yachting, chartering and marina management. After initial roles in manufacturing at Schneider Elektrik’s international technical-commercial division, he relocated to Bodrum in 1996 and launched Cano Yachting in 1999 to provide charter and sailing training services.

Polat transitioned into marina management in 2002 during the Bodrum Yalıkavak Marina investment phase. He subsequently played a leading role in the establishment of IC Çeşme Marina under the Camper & Nicholsons partnership and increased occupancy at D-Marin Didim Marina.

He further improved his credentials with Certified Marina Manager (CMM) status from the British Marine Federation in 2013, followed by leadership roles at Setur Gökova Ören and Setur Kuşadası Marinas. His recent roles include founding the yacht brokerage department at Ark Yacht and leading TUV Austria Marine as its inaugural general manager.
