Marconn has completed the installation of service pedestals at a pontoon in Cadaqués, on the Costa Brava in Spain, using solar power and battery storage to provide electricity and water services independently of the electrical grid.
Each service pedestal has two 16 A electrical sockets and two water outlets, with electricity supplied by the solar panels and battery system. The main industrial pedestal contains the battery and regulators that manage the solar power for the service points, as well as a buoy in the bay.
Viltec Vilanova Design manufactures the pedestals for ports and docking areas. They come in three versions, with electrical sockets, taps and amperages varying by model, as well as options for individual meters, automatic resetting, perimeter and LED lighting, casing colours and logos.
The pedestal’s monocoque casings use 100 percent recycled and recyclable polyethylene from ocean and urban sources, reducing CO₂ emissions compared to aluminium pedestals and offering resistance to water, salt, sunlight and impacts. Marconn’s app and web platform also allow operators to manage the services remotely, monitor consumption in real time and control supplies.
