Five investment schemes have submitted expressions of interest for the concession of Aretsou Marina in Kalamaria, Greece, after the submission deadline was extended twice.

Growthfund

Launched in December 2025, the tender seeks a concessionaire to handle the use, operation, management and commercial activity of the marina under a long-term agreement. The concession will run for at least 35 years, with an option to extend for a further 10 years.

Growthfund confirmed that five parties responded to the tender: AVAX Group, Lamda Marinas, R.E.D.S., Technical Olympic and TEKAL.

The submission deadline was extended twice, initially to 11 March and later to 31 March 2026. Prequalified bidders will be invited to proceed to the next stage and submit binding offers.

Aretsou Marina is located along the eastern coast of the Thermaic Gulf, within the Municipality of Kalamaria, near the centre of Thessaloniki and Macedonia International Airport. The marina has 242 berths for vessels of up to 30 metres in length and covers a total land area of around 7.62 hectares.

Growthfund has prepared a development plan that will increase the marina’s capacity to 327 berths, with space for vessels of up to 40 metres. The site will support tourism and leisure activities, along with onshore storage and maintenance of vessels, and will also include open-air areas, pedestrian and sports walkways, as well as green spaces for public access.

The development plan was approved by Presidential Decree in 2023 after a review by the Council of State, with environmental terms later approved in October 2025 through a joint decision by the ministers of environment and energy and tourism.
