King County Parks has completed upgrades at Dockton Park and Marina on Vashon-Maury Island, three years after renovating the park’s playground. The project replaced ageing marina infrastructure and improved access to the waterfront.

The work included the replacement of the floating dock, breakwater, finger piers and pilings, as well as upgrades to utilities and the addition of a fire suppression system and sewage pump-out station. Structural and safety improvements were made throughout the marina, with the project also adding a new swim dock.

Redside Construction and Pacific Pile and Marine completed the waterfront project, with funding provided by the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office and the King County Parks Levy.

In 2023, the county completed improvements to the playground, adding a ship-themed play structure with improved access, along with slides, swings, climbing features and musical play elements.

King County executive Girmay Zahilay said: “At our marina on Vashon and at county- and city-owned parks throughout our region, we’re upgrading facilities and adding amenities to offer people and families a better experience. We’re delivering on the promise of the King County Parks Levy to enhance the places that keep communities connected.”

Teresa Mosqueda, King County councilmember, said: “I’m thrilled that the Dockton public boat launch, beach and park are open and ready to welcome people and families with places to gather, explore and enjoy summertime on Vashon!”
