A proposed €5 million ($5.6 million USD) refurbishment could bring an 80-metre superyacht berth and electrical upgrades to Marina di Villasimius in Sardinia, Italy. Marina director Amedeo Ferrigno told SUPER YACHT 24 that the improvements aim to accommodate growing yacht traffic, subject to upcoming maritime concession tenders.

Among its longer-term development plans, the marina is considering a refurbishment of the entire facility and changes to its mooring layout amid a rise in seasonal superyacht visits from around 40 to 450 vessels over the past decade, as demand for multihull berths and winter mooring also increases. Ferrigno also confirmed that an economic and financial plan has been prepared for the proposed works, and its implementation will depend on the timing of the maritime concession tenders.

Marina di Villasimius operates within the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area, approximately 60 kilometres from Cagliari and Elmas Airport, and offers access to the Marinedi network of 15 marinas. The marina currently accommodates vessels measuring up to 65 metres and offers a boatyard, fuel station, restaurants, shops, a pharmacy, medical centre and transport services.
