On 30 March 2026, Yokosuka City, Sumitomo Heavy Industries and Index Co. signed a tripartite agreement for the redevelopment of the Uraga Station area in Yokosuka, Japan. The agreement advances a large-scale mixed-use project centred on a planned superyacht marina.

The project focuses on a superyacht marina, around which a wider waterfront district is planned. The development is set to include housing, hotels, commercial space and facilities for maritime culture and education, along with venues for conferences and events. The master plan was prepared by architect Kengo Kuma.

In March 2021, Sumitomo Heavy Industries donated part of its land near Uraga Dock to Yokosuka City. In March 2024, the company and the city signed an agreement to support redevelopment in the area.

A public call for proposals opened in November 2024, and in October 2025 the consortium “Team Perry’s”, led by Index Co., was selected.

Six companies are included in the agreement: Index Co., Ocean Capital Partners, List Development Co., Kinoshita Group Co., Upfront Group Co. and Maeda Corporation.

In a statement, Index Facilities said the agreement sets out the roles and responsibilities of the three parties in implementing the project, as well as matters relating to land transactions and necessary procedures.

Survey work and early-stage preparation are scheduled for the 2026-2027 financial years. Design and construction are planned for 2027-2028, with parts of the site expected to open in stages from 2029 onwards.
