Upton Marina on England’s River Severn has gained Clean Marina accreditation from The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), becoming the first marina along the river to receive the environmental recognition.

At the same time, the marina maintained its 4 Gold Anchor status from TYHA, a rating that recognises marinas that continue to meet standards for facilities, services and customer care.
Located in Worcestershire, Upton Marina provides pontoon moorings and includes facilities such as brokerage services, a chandlery, fuel, pump-out facilities, parking and an on-site restaurant.
The Clean Marina programme supports marinas in following environmental practices that help protect waterways. To receive the accreditation, marinas must meet standards covering waste management, pollution prevention, emergency preparedness, staff training and encouraging responsible boating behaviour.
Jamieson Harris, marina manager at Upton Lake & Marina, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Upton Marina and something the whole team should be extremely proud of. Everyone has played a part in meeting the Clean Marina standards, and it’s rewarding to see that hard work recognised. As the first marina on the River Severn to receive this accreditation we are extremely proud.”
Adam Buck, senior business support manager at Tingdene Marinas and Boat Sales, stated: “Achieving Clean Marina accreditation while also retaining our 4 Gold Anchor status is a fantastic result for Upton Marina. It reflects the hard work of the entire team and demonstrates the continued commitment to environmental responsibility and customer service across Tingdene Group.”
