Swan Yacht Club in East Fremantle, Western Australia, is advancing a major transformation of its marina and riverfront facilities, with a multimillion-dollar wave attenuation and marina development now entering its second stage alongside the delivery of new onshore lifestyle and event infrastructure.

Stage one of the marina development has already been completed, delivering 32 new floating berths constructed by Walcon. These works have significantly improved vessel protection within the marina while strengthening the long-term security and usability of the facility.
Following strong demand for the initial release of new berths, stage two of the development is now fully funded and underway. As part of the overall project, the club has secured approximately 8,800 square metres of water lease, providing long-term certainty for future expansion.
Stage two will extend wave attenuation across almost the entire marina, improving safety, comfort and operational flexibility for berth holders. The works will also increase protection for existing infrastructure, reduce long-term maintenance requirements and ensure all pens operate to a consistent standard.
In parallel with the marina works, Swan Yacht Club is delivering a significant riverfront redevelopment. Construction is well advanced on a new green space funded by a $150,000 AUDWestern Australia Government PlayOn WA grant. The project has converted a dilapidated slipway into a multi-use riverfront precinct designed to support both community and commercial events.
Events and upgrades
The new space has already hosted two major functions, the Swan Yacht Club Melbourne Cup and the Commodore’s Ball, highlighting its potential as a key events and activation area overlooking the Swan River. The precinct is designed to accommodate live music, outdoor markets, corporate functions, weddings and private events.
Environmental upgrades are a central component of the redevelopment, including new planting zones and the reinstatement of native vegetation to enhance the riverfront landscape and reduce the club’s environmental footprint.
A standout feature of the club’s expanding lifestyle offering is the on-water floating sauna operated by Drift Saunas, which has quickly become a popular wellness attraction for members and guests. Positioned directly on the river, the facility adds a distinctive relaxation and recovery element to the precinct and complements the club’s broader riverfront activation strategy.
These infrastructure projects form part of a wider long-term master plan supported by a strong corporate sponsorship programme. In 2025, Swan Yacht Club is backed by more than 70 sponsors across marine services, construction, wellness, fresh produce and gourmet food.
