Svendsen’s Bay Marine has completed a multi-million-dollar expansion of its Richmond boatyard in California, doubling its footprint and introducing several environmentally-focused upgrades. The expansion enhances the boatyard’s capacity for marine repair, refit and maintenance, while meeting the growing demand from both the commercial and recreational sectors.

Located in Point Richmond, the facility spans five acres and now includes new infrastructure such as a remote-controlled travel lift with a 100-tonne capacity, new floating docks, extended berths designed to accommodate larger vessels and a suite of upgraded marine service buildings. Among the additions is California’s first indoor yacht paint booth, which can house vessels up to 22-metres (75-feet).

Svendsen’s Bay Marine President Bill Elliott said, “This expansion positions us to handle larger vessels and more complex projects while exceeding environmental standards. We are meeting the growing demand from both recreational and commercial clients.”

A key element of the expansion is a focus on environmental compliance and sustainable operations. The indoor yacht paint booth captures overspray and particulates through HEPA filtration, while the drainage system has been overhauled. The facility now operates a treatment plant capable of filtering runoff to potable water standards, which ensures zero discharge into the bay.
