Superyacht Base Kobe in western Japan plans to begin marina operations in spring 2027 before opening its remaining facilities in 2028. The project is being developed by Superyacht Base Kobe Co., Ltd., established by a consortium of seven investors, in cooperation with Kobe City as part of the port’s waterfront redevelopment.

Located on Kobe Port’s waterfront in Hyogo Prefecture, the marina builds on the city’s history of international trade and its role as a gateway to the Seto Inland Sea. The project aims to address Japan’s limited facilities for long-term superyacht stays and develop a regional cruising network connecting Kobe to Awaji Island, Shodoshima, Takamatsu and Onomichi to support marine tourism and cultural exchange.

The project follows a “theatre-style marina by the sea” concept and is planned to open in phases, starting with mooring facilities expected to receive their first vessels in spring 2027. A clubhouse, restaurant and lounge are planned to open in 2028, alongside proposals for visitor berths, concierge services, café, event space, seaside promenade, circular deck and viewing terrace.
