Provided through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, the Ontario government’s investment of $199,998 CAD ($143,000 USD) will support infrastructure upgrades at Thessalon Marina to enhance recreational boating facilities and support local tourism along Lake Huron’s North Channel.

Town of Thessalon

Thessalon Marina currently offers boat slips, kayak rentals, fuel services, a pump-out station and a boat launch for recreational boaters. Plans for the municipally operated facility cover the installation of six new docks and two ramps to replace ageing infrastructure, plus renovations to an outdoor gazebo to provide a fully accessible space for residents and visitors.

The project also aims to extend the marina’s service life and provide a safer experience for boaters. According to local authorities, the upgrades are expected to attract more visitors to Thessalon, which could increase spending at local businesses, support tourism and contribute to the community’s long-term economic activity.
