Fisher worked at Rivergate for 18 years in senior roles, representing the marina at international yacht shows and industry events. His efforts have contributed to Rivergate’s position as a service hub for superyachts in the region. Located on Australia’s East Coast, Rivergate accommodates vessels up to 90-metre and offers a range of support services, including 24/7 bunkering, marine trade access and secure berthing. Fisher previously received the Superyacht Industry Champion Award in 2014.

“It was totally out of the blue,” Fisher said. “I managed to keep my tears at bay, but plenty of people came up later and said to me ‘You made me cry, you bastard!’” His acceptance speech was met with a standing ovation and included anecdotes and reflections drawn from his 42-year career in the industry.

Steve’s warmth, skill and knowledge, together with his advocacy for the industry, have been pivotal to the establishment and growth of the superyacht industry in Australia.”

David Good, CEO of AIMEX-Superyacht Australia, added: “Steve has spent more time than anybody criss-crossing the world to convince international captains to bring their vessels to Australia, which in turn generates thousands of jobs for tradespeople and service providers.”
