Salmon Bay Marina in Seattle is in the process of closing three of its docks, with all moorage on docks A, B and C scheduled to end by 18 March 2026. The Port of Seattle confirmed that affected vessels must be removed as part of the phased shutdown.

Built in 1961, the marina has undergone regular maintenance over the years, but decades of use and weather exposure have left the covered moorage infrastructure in decline. A review carried out by the port with external engineering firms found faults in dock roofs, structural connections and underwater pilings. These were described as an “imminent safety risk” to customers, staff and vessels.
The closure schedule began on 18 September 2025, when a 180-day notice was issued to all affected customers. Overnight stays on vessels under covered moorage will end on 18 November 2025, while Floating On-Water Residence customers not under covered structures may remain until 17 March 2026. By 18 March 2026, all mooring agreements on docks A, B and C will be terminated.
To support boat owners, the port has announced that it has assigned staff to assist with relocation, paperwork and account closures. At present, there are no plans to repair or reopen the three docks. Docks D and E remain open with limited moorage, though their conditions will be subject to further review to maintain safety standards.
