United Kingdom manufacturer Rolec and Scottish-based funder Connekt have partnered to expand electric vehicle (EV) charging across marinas, hotels, universities and leisure sites. Supported by a multi-million investment from Growth Fund 1, the collaboration aims to boost availability in locations identified as underserved in the charging network.

Rolec

Fewer than 1% of the UK’s 70,000 potential destination sites currently provide EV charging. By combining Rolec’s manufacturing and installer network with Connekt’s funding expertise and local advisory teams, the partnership aims to remove financial barriers and support businesses introducing charging facilities.

Installations have already begun, with further projects scheduled for the coming year. Marinas are included in the rollouts, along with hospitality and leisure venues, where businesses are seeking practical and commercially viable charging solutions that meet customer demand.

Darren North, National Sales Manager at Rolec, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with such a forward-thinking company to take on a major rollout of electric vehicle infrastructure across the UK. By working closely with the Connekt team, and Connor Charnley, after many years as industry friends, we will be able to bring our combined expertise to a sector with immense potential. Together we will utilise our full range of commercial EV solutions to meet the variety of needs present in the destination charging sector and provide options to fit the entire spectrum of charging speeds and space requirements.”

Rolec

Johnny Manning, Founder & Director at Connekt, stated: “At Connekt, we see a real synergy with Rolec. Over the past three to four years, we’ve been on an incredible journey building the foundations of a leading charge point operator – defined by market-leading support, reliability, and the highest standards. Rolec has been on a parallel journey, and they’ve emerged as one of the true market leaders in the EV charging industry.

What really sets this partnership apart are the personal relationships and bonds we’ve built between our teams – there’s a genuine trust and alignment that makes this collaboration different. It feels like a natural fit, almost a match made in heaven. Together, we’re bringing something unique to the market with our funded solutions, giving Rolec clients an opportunity to unlock EV charging infrastructure in a way that is both commercially viable and future-proof.”
