Port Takola Yacht Marina at the Krabi River Mouth in southern Thailand is expanding its facilities. The marina is advancing through its second phase of development, which includes upgrades to berths and onshore amenities.

Port Takola Yacht Marina is located between Ao Nang and Krabi Town and is surrounded by the Isara Estuary garden and mangrove landscape. The marina has been under development since 2012 on an estate that was previously a coconut plantation and a prawn farm.
A project by the Na Nagara family, the marina was originally planned by Surgeon Admiral Suriya Na Nagara RTN to provide sheltered inland berths.
Matthew na Nagara, General Manager of Port Takola Yacht Marina, said: “As a family-operated marina, we want to foster a welcoming yachting community. Krabi is a desirable homeport on the Andaman Sea. At sea, there are many stunning and secluded islands within a short sail. On land, it has a vast landscape of rush natural reserve area with picturesque limestone karst.”

Phase one opened in 2018, providing 49 wet berths and a boatyard equipped with a 38-tonne Roodberg trailer boat lift system. In 2022, the Environmental Impact Assessment Committee approved plans to expand the marina to a total of 300 berths.
Currently, the second phase of expansion is underway to add 80 wet berths for vessels ranging from ten to 25 metres, with completion expected by December 2025.
A new public passenger pier is being constructed to allow more direct access to the town. Onshore upgrades include a single-storey Capitainerie building, which will house a swimming pool, bathrooms, a marina office, a meeting room and a store supplying marine parts and convenience items. Construction is approximately 60 percent complete, and services are scheduled to open in February 2026.

Matthew na Nagara added: “Strategic developments are also taking place, such as Central’s Mall mixed-use project, an international hospital and school, and the recently expanded Krabi International Airport. These reasons help establish Krabi as an ideal destination for boaters seeking a home base on the Andaman Sea.”
