The Port of Everett has secured a $1 million USD award from Washington State’s Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) to replace ageing floats at the Jetty Landing Boat Launch. The project aims to modernise the state’s busiest public launch site, which supports nearly 30,000 boat launches each year.

Design work is expected to begin in 2026, with construction planned for 2027. The Port has said that upgrades will be completed no later than February 2028.
Located at 10th Street and West Marine View Drive, the 13-lane Jetty Landing launch is an entry point to Puget Sound. It is used by recreational boaters, tribal fisheries and emergency services, with activity peaking at more than 35,000 launches.
The project will replace up to six floats serving 12 of the lanes. Existing structures have outlasted their expected lifespan through temporary repairs, making replacement necessary for safety and reliability. The new floats will be built to match the current piles and launch access will remain open throughout construction.
Jeff Lindhout, Chief of Marina Operations at the Port of Everett, said: “We are grateful to the Recreation and Conservation Office for investing in a facility that serves boaters from across Washington. Improvements like this require significant capital beyond what launch fees provide. These new floats answer long-standing requests from boaters and will greatly enhance safety and the overall experience of launching a boat here at the Port of Everett.”
Funding comes from the RCO’s Boating Facilities Program, which was established in 1964 to improve access for motorised vessels. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis, and the Port of Everett’s proposal ranked first based on public benefit, design and financial match.
Beyond Jetty Landing, the Port of Everett also manages the largest public marina on the West Coast, which provides 2,300 slips, visitor moorage and a marine services district. The site includes a boatyard, a haul-out pier with 75-tonne and 55-tonne Travelifts, a 60-tonne boat transporter, as well as boom truck, forklift and tugboat operations. Additional services include washdown facilities and a range of on-site marine retail and repair businesses.
