A building permit has been issued by the ministry of tourism for the redevelopment of Alimos Marina in southern Athens, Greece, with construction expected to begin in 2026. Estimated at €50 million (over $58 million USD), the redevelopment includes upgrades to marina facilities and surrounding waterfront areas.

According to Tornos News, the category 1 building permit was issued on 11 May 2026 and is valid until 2032. The permit covers the “development period works of Alimos Marina” on property owned by TAIPED. Development of New Alimos Marina is the tenant for the site, while REDS is the authorised implementation body.
The permit follows earlier clearances for the traffic connection, architectural study and archaeological services, as well as a building permit pre-approval issued in September 2025 and revised in December 2025.
Alimos Marina is described as the largest marina in Greece and in the eastern Mediterranean. The marina is also considered a main base for yacht charter activity in Athens due to its location on the Athenian Riviera.
The overall site covers 21 hectares of land and 42.8 hectares of sea area. The marina includes more than 1,000 permanent berths, including 50 berths for vessels longer than 25 metres. It also includes a six-hectare dry dock and winter storage area capable of accommodating more than 350 vessels.
Plans for the redevelopment include a hotel near Edem Beach on the western side of the marina, commercial and office spaces along Poseidonos Avenue, dining areas on the central pier and yacht club facilities on the eastern side.
The project also includes upgrades to the existing swimming pool facility, together with new public spaces, pedestrian walkways, cycle paths and green areas around the marina.
