The City of Pascagoula has announced progress on the Lowery Island development project, aiming to transform the city's waterfront into a gateway for both residents and visitors. Nearly 15 years in the making, the project will bring new boating facilities, public amenities and tourism opportunities to the west bank of the Pascagoula River.

With more than $4.4 million USD secured from state partners and the RESTORE Act for Phase 1 and additional grant applications underway, the City of Pascagoula is moving forward with the project. A key milestone is the agreement with Anderson Construction, which will develop a dry boat storage facility featuring valet service on the former Clark Seafood site.

Billy Anderson of Anderson Construction, developer of the dry storage facility, commented, "We're incredibly excited to partner with the City of Pascagoula on this transformative marina project. Pascagoula has so much to offer, and we’re proud to help shape a waterfront experience that locals and visitors alike can enjoy for generations."

The project for Lowery Island includes the Pascagoula River Dry Storage, a new Pascagoula River Municipal Marina, and the revitalisation of Lighthouse Marina, aiming to enhance waterfront accessibility and create a hub for recreational boating activities.
The City Council facilitated the transfer of a sublease to SCB Marina, LLC, with approval from the State of Mississippi. The move has led to the reopening of the Lighthouse Marina under new ownership, which now offers waterfront dining, a bait shop and a fuel dock, serving as a new attraction for boaters and visitors. The Lighthouse Marina is expected to play a role in strengthening Pascagoula’s recreation sector while boosting local economic activity.
