A new marina at South Stradbroke Island, Queensland, is now under construction as Marine Structures begins work on the Pandana project. Part of a $200 million AUD ($141 million USD) eco-resort development, the site will feature sustainable marine facilities designed to support visitor access.
Australian company Marine Structures, a specialist in pontoon systems and waterfront infrastructure for residential and commercial developments, has announced the commencement of works on the marina component of the Pandana project.
The facility will support the planned marina and resort precinct, which will be powered by renewable energy. It is expected to include 25 berths for vessels up to 22 metres long and a dedicated landing facility for an electric water taxi service, as well as replace ageing marine infrastructure located on the island.
Information published on the project website includes plans for a nature-based luxury accommodation offering, with cabins and lodgings planned along 230 metres of west-facing beachfront, alongside food and beverage facilities for guests and recreational visitors.
Marine Structures said the project reflects “environmental responsibility with premium waterfront functionality” and described it as “an exciting step forward for marine infrastructure in Queensland.”
