Marina owners, operators and recreational boating professionals from across Ohio met on Thursday, 26 February 2026, at the annual Ohio Marina Conference, where leaders in clean boating and waterway protection were recognised. The gathering focused on environmental responsibility and topics shaping the future of the state’s marina industry.

The conference was organised by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Coastal Management and Division of Parks and Watercraft, working with the Ohio Sea Grant College Program. The event brought together operators and staff from coastal and inland facilities, along with others connected to Ohio’s boating industry.

During the event, organisers presented the 2026 Ohio Clean Marina Awards to facilities and individuals who have shown commitment to environmental practices. The Ohio Clean Marinas Program offers three levels of certification: certified, gold and platinum.

Cedar Point Marina received the Marina of the Year award. The marina was acknowledged for its support of Clean Marina initiatives, its adoption of new efforts and for encouraging other facilities to take part in the programme. Bryan Dreyer was named Partner of the Year in recognition of his work supporting outreach and education activities connected to the programme.

Chagrin Lagoons Yacht Club was newly certified in 2026, while other facilities renewed their certification this year. Platinum status was renewed by Lake Loramie State Park and Mentor Harbor Yachting Club. Gold certification renewals went to City of Sandusky Paper District Marina, Dillon State Park Marina, Park Place Boat Club & The Keys Marina, Shawnee State Park Marina and The Boardwalk. Forest City Yacht Club and Son Rise Marina were recognised at certified level.

The conference also acknowledged marinas that have remained in the Clean Marina programme for ten years: East 55th Street Marina, Lake Logan Marina and Safe Harbor Lakefront Marina.

Alongside the awards, the agenda addressed issues affecting marina operations in Ohio, including ice coverage, lake level changes, accessibility, emergency management, dredging and harmful algal blooms.

Sarah Orlando, Ohio Clean Marinas Program manager, stated: “The Ohio Marina Conference continues to be a cornerstone professional development event for marinas and boating partners. By providing a mix of sessions spanning the environment to the economy, we are proving that sustainability and strong business operations go hand in hand.”
