The marina layout has been changed to support 156 berths, following the full replacement of pontoons with GRP mesh Duradeck surfaces installed by Solent Marine. New utility bollards and updated safety equipment have also been added across the marina.

Electrical infrastructure improvements have been made with the introduction of smart metering technology from Metpow, alongside electrical upgrade works supported through PowerPark to help modernise marina systems.

Dannielle Harvey, business development director at PowerPark, commented: “We’re excited to be part of the team delivering the refurbishment of Nottingham Castle Waterside & Marina. It’s been a great collaborative effort to improve the overall infrastructure and customer experience. The dedication from everyone involved has been clear, and we look forward to seeing the benefits these electrical upgrades will bring to berth holders and visitors.”

Ed Jones, CEO at Metpow, stated: “This project reflects the growing need for connected infrastructure in UK marinas. Working alongside Rolec and Aquavista, we are helping to modernise how energy is delivered, monitored and managed at the waterside.”

Facilities at the marina building have been refurbished, featuring Rolec’s Classic marina service pedestals on site. Five ensuite bathrooms have been added, in addition to a dog-wash station, with further updates made to the wet dock facilities and the overall design.

Tim Butler, key client engineer at Rolec, said: “We’re proud to continue our long-standing relationship with Aquavista on this exciting redevelopment at Nottingham Castle Waterside & Marina. This project brings together strong complementary expertise across the delivery team to support a smarter, more connected approach to marina energy infrastructure. With over 20 years of partnership with Aquavista, this work builds on a trusted foundation and continues our focus on delivering resilient, scalable, and future-proof electrical infrastructure across the site.”

Paula Hewitt, marina manager at Nottingham Castle Waterside & Marina, said: “This is a hugely exciting moment for the marina. The transformation has completely elevated the site and created a fantastic environment for our moorers. From the upgraded pontoons and facilities to the overall look and feel of the marina, the investment has made a remarkable difference and firmly positions Nottingham Castle Waterside & Marina as one of the region’s premier marinas.”

Residential moorings have been introduced alongside existing leisure, visitor and winter mooring options. The residential package includes a registered UK address, personal lockable post and storage box, weekly laundry service and monthly pump-out service.

Deborah Hunt, sales & marketing director at Aquavista, said: “Nottingham Castle Waterside & Marina has always been an exceptional location, combining the energy and convenience of Nottingham city centre with the unique lifestyle that comes from living on the water. This investment has completely transformed the marina and created an outstanding destination for both leisure and residential moorers. We’re incredibly proud of the result and excited for customers to experience everything the upgraded marina now offers.”

An open day is planned for 30 May, with marina tours, guidance on mooring options, boat sales sessions and stalls from independent traders.
