Northney Marina on Hayling Island has upgraded its lifting operations following the installation of a new 35-tonne hoist. The equipment marks a £400,000 investment by MDL Marinas to enhance handling efficiency and improve support for larger vessels.

Supplied by Marine Travelift, the hoist was introduced earlier in 2025 and is fitted with an extended beam and remote-control functionality.

Located on the north shore of Hayling Island, United Kingdom, Northney Marina offers more than 200 fully serviced berths and accommodates vessels up to 24-metres in length. With direct access to Chichester Harbour and the Solent, the marina provides a convenient base for cruising along the South Coast. On-site amenities include modern shower and toilet facilities, parking areas and a café.

Tom Ward, Marina Manager at Northney Marina, stated, “This equipment is a game-changer for us. The new hoist allows us to support a wider range of vessels and deliver an even better service to our berth holders and visitors. Its speed, power and ease of operation have already made a big difference to the way we work and support our customers.”

Marine Travelift’s Managing Director of International Sales, Stephan Chayer, also commented on the collaboration: “We’re proud to partner with MDL Marinas on this project. The 35-tonne hoist at Northney is a great example of how modern equipment can transform marina operations, offering precision, safety and speed. We’re confident it will serve the marina and its customers exceptionally well for many years to come.”
