Construction is expected to begin mid-year on a new resort planned at Nawi Island Marina, as development continues at the site in Fiji’s Northern Division. The project is expected to support tourism activities and employment in the Savusavu area.

According to a report by Priya Nand and Mohammed Feroz for fijivillage, the resort is planned as the third stage of development at the marina. Nawi Island manager Grace Lee said the project is intended to build on existing operations at the site.
The marina is already fully operational and includes dining outlets, retail spaces, a pool club and on-site accommodation. It has 132 berthing docks designed to accommodate vessels from nine metres up to 85 metres in length.

Nawi Island Marina has been constructed to Australian standards and is certified to withstand up to category five cyclones. Its facilities include a fuel jetty, a seaplane dock, full-length pontoons and sewage pump-out services. The marina also provides laundry services as well as toilet and shower facilities.
At the centre of the marina is the island of Korovesa, which houses administrative offices, a chandlery, a grocery store, a superyacht agent, an activities centre and a currency exchange shop.
Lee said the planned resort is expected to create additional employment once completed and support economic activity in the wider Savusavu area.
