An environmental review has started for a proposed mooring pier in the Bozburun area of Marmaris. The project aims to expand docking capacity in response to rising demand in a coastal centre for yacht tourism and boatbuilding in Türkiye.

In a report by Türkiye Today, Asia Marina Tourism Management Joint Stock Company Inc. plans to invest 294 million Turkish liras (about $6.6 million USD) to build the facility.
Bozburun has 35 shipyards and 18 boat workshops and supports the production of gulets, traditional Turkish wooden sailing vessels. Activity increases during the summer months and puts added strain on existing mooring space.
The proposed pier would accommodate about 180 vessels. The design includes two floating breakwaters covering 995.46 and 1,096.28sqm, along with three piers measuring 120, 143 and 163 metres. A piled platform of 5,144sqm is also planned.
The project aims to avoid filling, bottom dredging and on-site manufacturing to minimise impact on the seabed. It is also expected to support the protection of the Datça-Bozburun Special Environmental Protection Area.
