Marinas de España and Iberdrola are leading an energy transition aimed at electrifying and decarbonising ports, marinas and nautical clubs across Spain. The initiative was officially announced on 21 August 2025 and aims to provide a roadmap for minimising carbon emissions and increasing efficiency across the maritime sector.

According to Corresponsables, the project begins with a sectoral analysis using Balantia’s Net Zero Emissions Manager platform, which also manages inventory data, asset profiles and invoices.
The first phase of the project involves calculating the carbon dioxide footprint of each marina, identifying processes with the highest environmental impact and developing decarbonisation plans aligned with climate objectives for 2030 and 2050.
Following the analysis, Iberdrola will design electrification measures to reduce emissions and improve competitiveness. Proposed actions include installing electric vehicle and boat charging points, photovoltaic self-consumption systems, heat electrification and energy supply tariffs with guarantees of origin.
For emissions that cannot be eliminated, the Iberdrola Group provides carbon credits through Carbon2Nature.
The initiative highlights Marinas de España’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, making Spanish ports, marinas and nautical clubs at the forefront of the maritime energy transition.
