Marinas along the southern coast of Spain are continuing efforts to improve environmental practices as Marinas de Andalucía confirmed that it has renewed its collaboration with Fundación Aula del Mar Mediterráneo (FAMM). Now in its second year, the programme applies across 19 marinas in Andalusia and focuses on environmental education, awareness and marine conservation within port areas.

Marinas de Andalucía represents marinas and yacht clubs along more than 800 kilometres of coastline, from Huelva to Almería. The association was established in the 1980s to represent and support marinas operating under regional and national authorities.
The association includes Marina El Rompido, Marina del Odiel, Puerto Sherry, Alcaidesa Marina, Puerto Sotogrande, Puerto de La Duquesa, Real Club Náutico de Estepona, Puerto Deportivo de Estepona and Puerto Banús.
It also includes Puerto Deportivo de Marbella, Puerto Deportivo de Fuengirola, Puerto Deportivo de Benalmádena, IGY Málaga Marina, Real Club El Candado, Marina del Este, Marina Motril, Puerto Deportivo Almerimar, Puerto Deportivo Aguadulce and Puerto Deportivo de San José.
FAMM is a non-profit organisation focused on marine biodiversity conservation, promoting research, environmental education and public awareness to support the protection of marine ecosystems.
The agreement continues initiatives introduced in 2025, when both organisations began efforts to improve environmental awareness among marina operators and users. Early activities include training webinars, educational materials and content for marina teams and recreational boaters.
The programme continues with adding newsletters, more training sessions and a sustainability conference to be held at one of the member marinas. A guide to the Maro-Cerro Gordo Special Area of Conservation is also planned to offer information on protected coastal environments and responsible practices.
Manuel Raigón, president of Marinas de Andalucía, said that sustainability is part of everyday port management and that the agreement allows the association to continue using tools to raise awareness among staff and users while encouraging more responsible boating practices.
Juan Antonio López, president of FAMM, said the continued collaboration helps the organisation work more closely with marinas and their users by sharing useful information and creating opportunities for training and interaction that support respect for the marine environment.
