Marina Port Valencia welcomed the Brazilian Navy’s training ship Brasil from 26-30 August as part of her 39th Naval Official Training Voyage. The visit provides both technical support for the crew and an opportunity to strengthen relations between Brazil and Spain.

Built at the Rio de Janeiro Navy Arsenal, Brasil joined the armed forces in 1986 and has since trained generations of naval officers, serving as a symbol of national pride.
The training programme aboard Brasil teaches naval officers about navigation, meteorology, naval operations, damage control and administration, while also giving them experience in adapting to life at sea. The ship carries 388 personnel, including 31 officers, 217 seamen and 140 naval officers in training, highlighting the voyage’s role in both education and cultural exchange.
Brasil began her journey on 2 August in Brazil and will visit seventeen ports across 13 countries during her four-month and 20-day voyage. After Marina Port Valencia, she will continue to ports in France and Italy before crossing the Atlantic to call at several United States harbours. The ship will then continue to South America, including a stop in Colombia, and is scheduled to return to Rio de Janeiro on 21 December.

During her visit, Brasil was opened to the public on 28-29 August, offering an opportunity to explore her exterior and interior spaces and gain insight into naval life and officer training.
Marina Port Valencia’s hosting of the training ship reflects the port’s role as a stop for international naval visits and as a contributor to maritime cooperation in the Mediterranean.
