Marina Genova has officially joined the Superyacht Eco Association – SEA Index® as an Institutional Member, reinforcing its commitment to environmental responsibility in the yachting sector. The announcement was made during an official event in Monaco attended by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, President of the Yacht Club de Monaco.

Located in Genoa, Italy, Marina Genova is well-known in the Mediterranean yacht and superyacht landscape. Capable of hosting vessels up to 130-metres, the marina has recently been investing in sustainable technologies and now features a photovoltaic system, two rapid marine charging stations, six electric vehicle chargers and five Seabin devices aimed at collecting microplastics. Marina Genova is also working toward the distribution of next-generation clean energy fuels.
As part of SEA Index®, the marina supports the CO₂ benchmarking initiative aimed at accelerating the superyacht sector’s path toward decarbonisation. The SEA Index® tool helps owners, managers and charterers make informed decisions based on a vessel’s emission performance.
President of the SEA Index® and Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco, Bernard d’Alessandri, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Marina Genova to our international network of ports and marinas committed to climate-conscious yachting. This membership is part of the ongoing global expansion of the SEA Index®, which now extends well beyond the Mediterranean.”
The partnership means Marina Genova will now display SEA Index® signage and actively share information on the benefits of CO₂ certification with its yachting community. Vessels moored at the marina that obtain SEA Index® certification with three stars or above may be eligible for priority berthing and related benefits across the SEA Index® network.
Giuseppe Pappalardo, CEO of Marina Genova, commented: “Joining SEA Index® is a meaningful step for us. We have long invested in infrastructure and service excellence. Furthermore, we are committed to encouraging and facilitating the certification of all boats moored year-round in our marina, reinforcing our dedication to sustainable yachting practices.”
Marina Genova’s inclusion adds to the growing list of SEA Index® ports, in Monaco (Port Hercule, Fontvieille and Cala del Forte), France (Antibes, Saint-Tropez and Bonifacio), the Seychelles (Port Victoria and Eden Marina), and others. Together, the locations form a cooperative network advancing environmental awareness and emissions monitoring within the global superyacht industry.
