Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has awarded a construction contract to SASe Construction Private Limited to develop a yacht marina in Uligan, located in Haa Alif Atoll in the northern Maldives.

The first phase of the project covers the development of a marina capable of accommodating up to 18 vessels. The facility is also expected to provide immigration and customs services.
In August 2024, MPL announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Uligan Council to begin developing the yacht marina project.
The development aims to strengthen maritime infrastructure in the northern Maldives and improve services for leisure vessels travelling through the region. Uligan is located near the northern tip of the country and lies close to a busy maritime route used by both international trade and leisure craft.
SASe Construction was established in April 2013 and works on infrastructure projects across the Maldives. Its work includes harbour construction, coastal protection, utilities and resort-related developments.
MPL stated that it is currently seeking a party to operate the marina and further develop the facility.
