Announced on 6 May 2025, the Lee Board of County Commissioners approved a $4.4 million USD purchase agreement for the Mullock Creek Marina site in south Fort Myers, supporting the county’s initiative to expand public boating access and recreational infrastructure.

Located at Mullock Creek Lane and Pioneer Road, the 5.21-acre site is home to Mullock Creek Marina, which features 78 wet slips, a public boat ramp, a fuel dock offering gasoline and diesel, a marina store and rentals for boats, canoes and kayaks. The facility is especially suitable for shallow-draft vessels.

With more than 49,900 registered recreational boats, Lee County ranks third among Florida’s 67 counties. Most of the vessels are trailerable, relying heavily on public ramps. The county’s last investment occurred in 2005 with the acquisition of the site now known as Lavender’s Landing in Bokeelia.

The purchase agreement is contingent on a boundary survey, site assessments and resolution of title exceptions. Following the expected closing in late September 2025, the seller will remove several existing structures. The county will then begin site improvements, with a reopening of the boat ramp anticipated in early 2026.

The acquisition aligns with Lee County’s broader objective of enhancing infrastructure through land purchases for future parks and recreational sites, particularly those providing water access.
