Greek property and marina developer LAMDA Development S.A. has appointed Evie Kostakis, former group chief financial officer of Swiss bank Julius Baer, as its next CEO. Kostakis will succeed Odisseas Athanasiou on 1 January 2027, following his 18 years as CEO and 21 years at the company.

LAMDA Development

Athanasiou took charge of LAMDA during the global financial crisis, following a career in senior financial positions at Barilla, Diageo and Titan Cement, and earlier roles at Ernst & Young and Emerson Electric in the United States. During his leadership, the company’s total assets rose fivefold to approximately €5 billion ($5.6 billion USD) and its net asset value quadrupled to around €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion USD). He also supported the group’s shopping mall and marina businesses, including its interests in Flisvos Marina, Agios Kosmas Marina and the superyacht marina in Corfu, and guided The Ellinikon redevelopment in Athens through institutional approvals, funding and construction challenges.

Athanasiou reflected on his years at LAMDA, recalling his commitment to Dr. Spiro Latsis’ vision and the challenges the company faced in advancing The Ellinikon. “The Ellinikon has now moved from promise to implementation. And this is perhaps the most meaningful moment at which one chapter can close, and another can begin,” he said.

He also expressed confidence in LAMDA’s future, confirming that he would retain his shareholding and continue his relationship with the Latsis family. From 1 January 2027, Athanasiou will become an adviser to Consolidated Lamda Holdings (CLH), part of the Latsis Group and LAMDA Development’s largest shareholder. His role will focus on relations with institutional bodies and state authorities.

Dr. Spiro Latsis stated: “Odisseas Athanasiou has played a decisive role in shaping LAMDA as we know it today…We deeply appreciate his contribution and the trust built over these years. His continuing collaboration through CLH will draw on his experience and business judgement. We welcome Evie Kostakis and are confident that her fresh perspective and leadership will support LAMDA’s next phase of development.”

Chairman Stefanos Kotsolis added: “On behalf of the board, I thank Odisseas Athanasiou for his dedicated leadership. He has been instrumental in establishing a strong foundation for the company’s future. We are delighted that Evie Kostakis will join us as our new chief executive officer and look forward to working together to further advance the company’s strategic priorities capitalising on our accomplishments to date.”

Kostakis has spent more than 25 years in finance, investment management and corporate strategy, most recently serving on the executive board of Julius Baer. According to a report by the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, she joined the Swiss banking group’s senior management in 2013 and later held positions in corporate development, investment management and finance before becoming group CFO. Earlier in her career, she worked at the National Bank of Greece, Morgan Stanley Asset Management and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, among other financial institutions.

Kostakis said: “I am honoured by the trust the board and our shareholders have placed in me, and grateful to Mr. Athanasiou, whose leadership made LAMDA what it is today. LAMDA has a strong recurring platform in its malls and marinas, while The Ellinikon, which is reshaping Athens, is now moving from construction to delivery, with the first residents arriving over the next two years.”

“My priorities are clear: to keep the momentum, deliver what we have promised to our customers and to the Greek State, fulfil the promises we have made to local communities, keep growing the income of our malls and marinas, and maintain the financial discipline that has earned LAMDA the confidence of its investors. I look forward to driving LAMDA’s strategic vision and working with an exceptional team.”
