La Lonja Marina Chárter has been chosen to manage the rental berths for charter vessels along the Paseo Marítimo at the Port of Palma. The appointment follows a decision by the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) at its most recent board meeting held on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.

The board selected the company’s bid in a public tender for an administrative concession covering the operation of charter moorings on the waterfront promenade. The agreement grants La Lonja Marina Chárter the right to manage the area for 16 years.
The concession involves an investment commitment of more than €4.5 million (about $5.3 million USD). It covers 1.7 hectares of public port domain, including 1.71 hectares of water surface, as well as moorings and a fuel supply facility for charter vessels.
In assessing the bids, the APB placed particular weight on the environmental measures included in the proposal. The authority said these measures support its objective of protecting the port environment and maintaining service standards.
The company proposes installing mooring systems to help regenerate the seabed using Econcrete technology on port structures to encourage marine life growth.
The project includes measures to manage water use, such as producing potable water on site and reusing rainwater for cleaning, alongside monitoring systems to detect leaks and improve efficiency. Smart planters are also planned to help reduce overall water consumption.
In addition, solar panels will be installed to generate part of the electricity needed for operations, and the concession area will include charging points for electric boats as well as a charging point for electric bicycles and scooters within the port.
