A fire broke out early on the morning of 6 October at a boat storage building at Kennebunkport Marina, operated by KPT Marine LLC at 540 Elm Street in Biddeford, Maine. The blaze caused damage to several boats and the storage facility.

Biddeford Fire Department

The Biddeford Regional Communications Center received an emergency call at 07:46 reporting a boat fire inside the building. Fire crews arrived shortly after, with the first officer finding heavy smoke and flames coming from the large storage building.

The fire spread from one boat to another and eventually broke through the roof of the facility. One marina employee was evaluated at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

Biddeford Fire Department

The fire was brought under control around 08:28. Investigations into the cause are ongoing, led by the Biddeford Fire Department in partnership with the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Initial findings suggest the fire was accidental and likely electrical in origin.
