Jones Bay Superyacht Marina in Sydney has announced a partnership with The International SeaKeepers Society, a non-profit organisation dedicated to marine research, conservation and education. The collaboration aims to support SeaKeepers’ DISCOVERY Yacht Programme by encouraging resident vessels to participate in scientific initiatives across Australia’s east coast.

The marina is located beyond the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which offers deep-water berths for vessels between 20-metre and 90-metre and includes facilities such as 3-phase power, pump-out services, 24/7 security and on-site amenities including a café, gym and function centre. The marina’s location provides resident vessels with both privacy and direct access to Sydney’s cultural and commercial hub.

Through the partnership, Jones Bay Superyacht Marina encourages participation in SeaKeepers’ latest initiative, the “Australian East Coast Marine Sounds” project. The project involves deploying hydrophones or listening stations every 500-kilometre between Eden, New South Wales and Port Douglas, Queensland, to record whale activity during the whale season from May to November. In addition to supporting long-term research, the project allows vessels to contribute visual sightings and data via smaller hydrophones.

Founded in Monaco in 1998, SeaKeepers has worked for over 25 years to promote global ocean awareness through active involvement with the yachting community. The DISCOVERY Yacht Programme comprises scientist-led expeditions, citizen science projects, educational outreach and community engagement. With its South Pacific Chapter based in New Zealand, the organisation is focused on engaging private vessels in conservation efforts across the region.

The partnership enhances opportunities for vessel owners to engage and strengthen community-driven efforts to preserve marine ecosystems. Jones Bay Superyacht Marina and SeaKeepers look forward to seeing the positive impact of the collaboration on ocean research and education in the South Pacific.
