Hinckley, an American yacht builder and marine service company, has acquired Port of Egypt Marine in Southold, New York. The site is located on the East End of Long Island and serves boaters from the North and South Forks.

Port of Egypt Marine has operated since 1946, when brothers William Sr., Herb, and Herman Lieblein purchased a fishing station on Southold Bay. At the time, the site mainly catered to visitors looking for fishing access and boat rentals along the coastline.
The business later developed into a full-service marina, which now includes more than 130 slips, a fuel dock and a pumpout station. It also operates a service department, a supply store, a dockside restaurant and a paddleboard shop alongside an outdoor lifestyle retail space.
Gavin McClintock, CEO of Hinckley, stated: “We are honoured to be part of Port of Egypt’s next chapter. As we continue to grow our service capabilities, our focus is on marinas where legacy, craftsmanship and care already run deep. The foundation built by the Lieblein family will remain at the heart of what comes next, and we are proud to carry that legacy forward.”

Hinckley, founded in Maine in 1928, builds yachts and operates a network of service yards along the US East Coast. Its operations extend from Maine to Florida with maintenance, refit and technical assistance across multiple coastal regions.
Port of Egypt Marine will be part of Hinckley’s wider network across the Northeast, including Connecticut, the Hamptons, Shelter Island and surrounding areas.
The company plans to convert a 24,000sqft (about 2,230sqm) cold storage facility into heated storage for year-round yacht maintenance. Further updates will focus on upgrading service capacity and support for boat owners using the marina.

Peter Clark, chief development officer at Hinckley, said: “Long Island’s East End has long been one of the country’s most important boating regions, and continues to grow. Port of Egypt is one of the North Fork’s most respected marinas, built over generations with a deep commitment to care and community. Our role is to build on that foundation and add new capabilities, expertise and technology to elevate the experience even further.”
Will and Yvonne Lieblein, co-general managers, said: “In Hinckley, we found a partner who truly understands what makes Port of Egypt special. Their commitment to craftsmanship, stewardship and service reflects the values we have upheld here over eight decades and gives us great confidence in what comes next. We are proud of what we’ve built, and excited to see it thoughtfully enhanced and carried forward.”
