Guernsey Ports has officially rebranded its network of yacht berths under the new name Guernsey Marinas, signalling a renewed focus on marine tourism and long-term development. The rebrand was introduced to the French market at the inaugural St. Malo Boat Show as part of efforts to raise the island’s profile as a maritime destination.

As reported by Guernsey Press, while staffing and operational resources remain unchanged, the rebranding reflects an ambition to grow Guernsey’s leisure marine sector and boost revenue through increased visitor numbers.
Assistant harbour master Kieran Higgs highlighted Guernsey’s growing reputation among competitive sailing events and leisure boaters. “We are charting a course towards becoming a premier marine destination for all vessels. This will be achieved over time through sustained investment in our facilities and a commitment to excellent customer service, working in partnership with the blue economy across Guernsey.”

Guernsey Ports currently manages four marinas: Albert Marina, Victoria Marina, Queen Elizabeth II Marina and the St. Sampson’s Inner and Outer Marina. Combined with dry and non-drying moorings, the network supports 1,850 berths.
To support the vision, several infrastructure projects have already been completed or are underway. Over the past year, £1.3 million was invested in new pontoons at the Queen Elizabeth II Marina, while a £300,000 pontoon upgrade was carried out at Victoria Marina. In the Albert Marina, row ‘V’ was equipped with new pontoons in a £150,000 upgrade by Guernsey Ports’ team. Additional works included redecking older pontoons and replacing the Fish Quay pontoon.
In total, more than £20 million of marina infrastructure has been invested over the next decade to modernise ageing facilities and enhance the user experience in the marinas.

Commenting on the opportunity presented by the St. Malo Boat Show, Higgs said, “Our attendance at the first St. Malo Boat Show was a fantastic opportunity to promote our island and further strengthen our relations with Normandy and Brittany marinas. We had the opportunity to reconnect with lots of regular visitors to Guernsey and showcase the beauty of our island to the thousands in attendance.”

With new branding, expanded partnerships and continued investment, Guernsey Marinas is positioning itself as a destination for marine leisure across the Channel Islands and beyond.
