A 16-slip superyacht marina forms part of an ambitious $827 million USD redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan resort in Grand Bahama, as confirmed during a Heads of Agreement (HOA) signing between the Government of The Bahamas and developer Concord Wilshire. The marina project represents a step forward in positioning the island as a destination for yachting and luxury maritime tourism in the northern Bahamas.

Set within a masterplan of the resort, the new 16-slip superyacht marina will be supported by waterfront amenities including over-the-water cabanas, beach clubs and upscale retail and dining offerings. Designed to accommodate large private vessels, the facility is expected to attract a premium clientele and enhance the island’s overall visitor experience.

The marina forms part of a broader redevelopment that also includes three new hotel towers, a revitalised 25,000 square-foot casino, a golf course, family attractions, water parks, a cruise resort terminal, music venues and a variety of commercial spaces. The multipurpose resort concept aims to deliver a renewed economic platform for Grand Bahama through the combination of tourism, infrastructure and local enterprise.

During the signing ceremony at the Grand Lucayan Convention Centre, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Hon. Philip Davis highlights the marina’s role within a holistic national vision. “What we’re building here at the Grand Lucayan is not a stand-alone project — it’s part of a wider, more connected vision for Grand Bahama.”

As part of the construction and operational phases, more than 3,000 jobs will be generated, with 1,300 during construction and 1,750 permanent roles once completed. A minimum of 80% of the roles are reserved for Bahamians, emphasising the government’s commitment on inclusive growth and skills development.

Concord Wilshire, a US-based real estate and resort development firm, has committed to a collaborative approach with local stakeholders. The project will serve as a foundation for expanding Grand Bahama’s position in both leisure marine and cruise sectors, complementing ongoing port upgrades and industrial investments on the island.

By anchoring the project with a marina, the redevelopment positions Grand Bahama to attract a new wave of visitors while supporting local employment, training and long-term economic sustainability.
