Premier Marinas will invest more than £370,000 ($491,000 USD) to expand unleaded fuel storage to five times its current capacity at Gosport Marina in Hampshire, England, as demand grows across Portsmouth Harbour. The project will begin on 19 October 2026 and require the marina’s fuel pontoon to close for approximately six weeks.

Situated near the harbour entrance, Gosport Marina provides berthing and boatyard services for leisure and commercial vessels accessing the Solent. It is also home to Endeavour Quay, which specialises in yacht refits, race preparation and vessel maintenance. The marina also supplies fuel to customers across Premier Marinas’ Portsmouth Harbour network, including those at Haslar Marina and Trafalgar Wharf.
Gosport Marina currently supplies around 8,000 litres of unleaded fuel and 25,000 litres of marine diesel each week. To meet demand and reduce the risk of supply interruptions, Premier Marinas will replace the existing 6,000-litre unleaded fuel tank with a 30,000-litre facility.

Jonathan Walcroft, marina manager at Gosport Marina, commented: “Increasing our unleaded storage capacity to 30,000 litres will make a substantial difference to the reliability of the service we can provide. As demand has increased, our existing capacity has become more limiting. The larger tank will mean fewer deliveries are required, giving us greater resilience and helping to reduce the risk of interruptions to supply. Fewer deliveries will also mean fewer fuel tanker movements to and from the marina.”
Port Solent Marina, located in the northern reaches of Portsmouth Harbour, will serve as an alternative refuelling location during the closure. Premier berth holders can purchase petrol and marine diesel at cost through the Premier Advantage scheme, and external vessels may also use the facility subject to its usual operating conditions.
