The Port of Columbia County commission voted at its 14 October meeting to transfer management of private moorage at Scappoose Bay Marine Park in Oregon to Peter and Jessica Ettro, owners of Fred’s Marina in Portland. Beginning on 1 November, the transition aims to assign daily marina services to experienced operators and allow the port to focus on public facilities and economic development.

The new operators bring experience from Fred’s Marina, located on the south bank of Multnomah Channel near its junction with the Willamette River. They will manage private moorage near the Columbia River under the new name of Scappoose Bay Marina and handle daily services such as slip assignments, customer service, billing and maintenance.

Port ownership of the entire marine park will remain unchanged, including its management of parking, the public boat ramp, RV park, floating public walkway and paddle sport facilities. Visitors can continue using the park’s public facilities and services as usual, and The Paddle Shack will maintain its existing operations in the same building as the new marina office.
