Southwark Council has completed the first phase of upgrades at Greenland Dock in Rotherhithe, London, with a budget of £1.3 million ($1.7 million USD). The upgrades focused on moorings and utility points for the 65 residential boats at the dock.

The first phase replaced deteriorating pontoons and installed new supporting piles to update the mooring structure. Water and power service points were also added to provide utilities for residents.
Councillor Ellie Cumbo, Cabinet Member for Parks and Culture, stated: “Greenland Dock is home to a close community of boat enthusiasts and it’s vital that the infrastructure here is safe, reliable and fit for the future. These works deliver exactly that: modern moorings and upgraded services that will support residents for many years to come.”
Following this phase, the South Dock Marina Boatyard is scheduled for a £9.7 million ($12.9 million) programme of safety and infrastructure works. The upgrades will include new welfare facilities, improved access and lighting, upgraded electrical systems, landscaping changes and additional security. Site preparation for these works is expected to begin in early 2026.
