Marbella Town Council and Marbella Marina (Puerto Deportivo Virgen del Carmen) have introduced a €1 million ($1.1 million USD) investment for a maintenance and conservation plan at the port, which will run over the next five years.

Located in central Marbella, the marina provides more than 300 moorings and includes restaurants, bars and other commercial areas. Facilities include fuel services, a four-tonne crane, winter storage and nautical activities such as regattas, sport fishing, jet ski use and boat rental.
The programme includes planned works across the marina’s infrastructure, such as resurfacing of quays and pontoons, upgrades to the electrical system, replacement of street furniture and masonry repairs. Improvements will address bollards, inspection chambers, quay surfaces, walls and pedestrian routes.
The agreement also increases routine cleaning and general maintenance throughout the port area. The investment plan covers cleaning across nearly 1.3 hectares of public areas and offices, particularly during Easter and the summer season.
Diego López, the councillor responsible for the marina, said the contract reflects the council’s continued effort to maintain municipal facilities in good condition. He stated that Marbella’s four ports support the local economy and contribute to its international profile.
Carlos Romero, director of the marina, referred to the day-to-day demands of managing the facility, noting that port activity requires regular attention to pavements, non-slip coatings on pontoons, electrical inspections and hygiene treatments.
